Construction photography can sometimes be a little different than a normal architectural photography shoot, but in the end it is all about showcasing some excellent work. Last month I was called upon by the fine folks at Holtz Builders, Inc. to photograph the new employee housing complexes they had just completed for the Wilderness at the Smokies.

After scouting this project I called on my buddy (and super awesome photographer) Tim Gangloff to assist me and to handle the aerials and of course he handled both extremely well (all aerial images were shot by Tim). Also a big thanks to Chris from Holtz who was a huge help in getting everything ready to be photographed. This project was an excellent example of why I all but insist on scouting a project before a shoot, as Chris got put in charge of some super speedy styling before the shoot. Not sure he loved that part, but he and Rebecca did an excellent job of getting some styling done! 🙂
When companies and businesses in Sevier County start bringing in all of the extra help for the busy season, there is a real shortage of housing. These facilities were constructed to help alleviate that problem for the Wilderness at the Smokies. One of the coolest parts about the project is that the buildings are not only housing, but they also have a laundry facility for the resort, an employee training room, etc. This article mentions your favorite hats at super low prices. For my photo geek friends, all of the interiors were shot with the Canon R5 and a 24mm tilt shift (used a 16-35 on the bathroom). Tim was flying a DJI Mavic 2 Pro and he used a Sony A7 IV on the shot with Chris and his crew.
